Crazy For Polka Dots!

When family recently visited from West Virginia I was able to do a fun mani!  Carolyn stepped out of her comfort zone and wanted some polka dots after seeing the Candy Buttons nails. We did a spring/summer twist on the mani. I started with OPI's "La-Pazitively Hot" as a base color, 2 coats should do it! Then using your dotting tool (toothpick or bobby pin will work) start on the corner of a tip making 2 rows of diagonal polka dots using China Glaze's " Turned Up Turquoise". Repeat this in the opposite upper corner. For the next 2 rows of dots I used OPI's "Planks A Lot", and then repeat on the upper portion of the nail. Finally in the middle row I dotted a single row of dots using OPI's "Alpine Snow". Once all of the dots have tried I topped it off with a coat of OPI's "I Juggle...Men" for a subtle shimmer.

Nursing School Graduation Nails

I have been dreaming of what I would do with my nails for my graduation night from nursing school for quite some time now. I finally decided on a water marble with traditional nursing colors(think Red Cross). I always start with a base color of OPI's "Alpine Snow" or China Glaze's "White on White". Then for my marble colors I used CG's "Knotty" which is a white shimmer and CG's "Ruby Pumps" which is a red micro glitter. Unfortunately the red turned out more hot pink once I was finished, but oh well. I topped it all off with a coat of OPI's "I Juggle...Men" from the Femme du Cirque collection. If you dont have this color, go get it! It is an awesome staple to have as a top coat. very holographic light shimmer, not too overpowering but really cool!    Sidenote: My nails matched my Red Glitter ballet flats I wore that night with my all white scrubs- I totally bucked the white shoes tradition but it needed to be bedazzled a bit anyways :)

April Showers Bring May Flowers!

I started with a base color of "Cajun Shrimp" by OPI. A must have for your personal collection! Then using my Art Deco stripers I made  2 white triangles on the tip of each nail. After those dried i made a smaller triangle inside with a yellow striper. For the "seed" i used a small sliver of black. Then i made grass shoots. To make the green pop off your nail I suggest using white lines first and then once they dry adding your green over. You will save yourself time and paint by doing this. Top off with a good top coat!

Victorian Easter

OPI's "Rumple Wiggins" and China Glaze's Re-fresh Mint are the core of this delicate mani! I did this for my cousin on Easter this year and I loved how it turned out! I used a light pink and yellow Art Deco stripers for my lines and then used OPI's "Alpine Snow" for the dots!!!

Through The Looking Glass

This is my first try at sponging on glitters-and overall it was very simple! I used OPI's "Meet Me On The Star Ferry" as a base color. Then I applied 2 coats of OPI's "Mad As A Hatter". On my tips I sponged on OPI's "Absolutely Alice" a pretty blue and gold glitter. The Alice In Wonderland was one of my ultimate acquisitions in the world of collections and I love these two glitters!!! Finish off with a top coat and call it a day! (be prepared to break out the acetone for removal of all the glitter though :/ )

Sporty Spring Mani

I recently acquired the new Pirates of the Carribean collection from OPI and wanted to do something with the color "Mermaid Tears" which I LOVE LOVE LOVE!!! I did two coats of "Tears" and was very impressed at the coverage it gave me. I then used OPI's "Elephantastic Pink" for my diagonal tips. This took about 3 coats to really cover over the "Tears", in the future I might try a quick base tip of white to make the pink show up better. Then using my dotting tool I put 3 dots of "Tears". I love Art Deco's nail art stripers and I used basic white to separate my colors.   That was it for this simple mani- and of course always remember to use a good base and top coat!!! Enjoy!

Candy Buttons

So, remember those Candy Buttons we used to eat off of the paper when we were kids!? This is my interpretation of them for nails! I started with a base coat of OPI "Alpine Snow", I always do 2 coats. I have a dotting tool I use, it is priceless. I started on a diagonal near the nail bed, using CG's "Grape Pop" with some dots, then I applied then on the tip in the same color. Next line is CG "Turned Up Turquoise", and again repeat on your tips working towards the center. Then I did CG "Pool Party" in the same direction. Now the last line of dots is a single line in the color of  CG "Yellow Polka Dot Bikini". Let all of your dots dry and then finish off with a top coat.
